Gene
Sheehan brings over 25 years of communications experience in Connecticut
to his position as the head of the public relations company. Previous
to founding Sullivan & LeShane Public Relations with his two partners,
Patrick Sullivan and Paddi LeShane, Gene was the president and creative
director of one of Connecticut's largest advertising and public relations
agencies.
Gene is known statewide by members of the business community for his solid relationships with members of the state media. Gene is also well regarded for his creative talents and strategic foresight, which have given Connecticut's most influential companies and organizations communication campaigns that successfully reach their key audiences.
Gene has created and implemented the corporate identity program and ID manual for Kaman Corporation, and has created and implemented communications projects for The Dexter Corporation, including their corporate videos, annual reports and national crisis communications plan, as well as on-site media training for hundreds of corporate and division personnel in all domestic locations.
Gene also managed the internal and external communication strategy for the $90 billion merger of Connecticut Mutual and MassMutual, including media training both CEOs for the merger announcement. Gene also managed the public and community relations aspects of Mirage Resorts' $900 million proposal to build an entertainment complex with casino gaming in Bridgeport, Connecticut, which included the development and mobilization of a statewide coalition to support the project.
Gene began his career as radio program director for WHCN-FM in Hartford and went on to become president and creative director for Maher Advertising & Public Relations. While at Maher, Gene managed the $5 million advertising/public relations budget for the Connecticut State Lottery, and while creative director for the account, won the distinction of Best Lottery Television Commercial in the World. Gene has also been the recipient of various other local, regional and national creative awards, including the prestigious G.D. Crain award for the best Public Service campaign in the United States.
Gene serves on the Board of Directors of the Greater Hartford Chamber of Commerce, Fidelco Guide Dog Foundation and New England Air Museum, and was recently appointed to the Connecticut Film Commission by Governor John G. Rowland. Gene earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Providence College.
